The purpose of external supervision is to provide a safe, supportive space for professionals to reflect on their practice, explore challenges, and receive guidance and feedback. It helps practitioners enhance their skills, knowledge and self awareness, ultimately improving the quality of the service they provide.
It gives an opportunity to explore professional development and relationships associated with work in a context outside of the organisation. The implementation of the Supported Accommodation and Quality Standards 2023 has meant additional pressure on NI’s and RSM’s, in an industry where time is a constant challenge. Supervision helps prevent burn out, gives space to focus on you, your organisation and priority needs. It will help keep you on track with the key elements of the NI and RSM roles, and provide Ofsted with evidence of your continued professional development, and commitment to improving quality.
Supervision is held over MS teams for 1 hour, unless otherwise agreed. You choose the frequency of supervision. A supervision agreement is signed by both parties and an initial meeting will be held to get to know each other, your service, key priorities and specifics you'd like to cover. The agenda includes a table of key aspects of the RSM and NI role to keep you on track with regulatory requirements. You receive a write up of the notes with an action plan within 48 hours.
The approach to supervision is based on coaching and solution focused therapy skills . I will facilitate you to seek answers and identify actions, with advice and guidance if needed.
